When Hritik Roshan in super 30 said -”Ab raja ka beta raja naibanega, wohi banega johakdaarhai”. We all felt that.

After the demise of Sushant Singh Rajput, we are hearing word ‘Nepotism’ all over social media. The fire of nepotism no longer prevails to bollywood, this word is also affecting our judiciary.

Nepotism in Judiciary

Justice Rangnath Pandey on 1 July, 2019 writes a letter to PM Narendra Modi addressing ‘casteism and nepotism’ in appointment of judges in Allahabad high court and problem in collegium system.[1]

He further alleged that the selection of judges is based on nepotism and favourtism over cup of coffee behind closed doors. He requested PM to consider the issue as earliest to restore the dignity of judiciary.

Apart from that case earlier in 2013, the collegium of the Punjab and Haryana High Court recommended 8 advocates to be promoted as high court judges who include names of people already linked or related to either former chief justice or former Judges.

Nepotism in Judiciary- good or bad?

Nepotism is not about choosing family member of sitting or former judges but also includes favouring juniors, politician’s family members. Nepotism is prevailing in all sectors and it cannot be removed or banished but if we got Justice Dhananjaya Yeshwant Chandrachud like person from nepotism, judiciary system can be in safe hands. At last it all matter is talented people can get their path.
