AUTHOR-Diksha kuchiya

While Indian media is busy in showing Amitabh bacchan’s and their family health report, migrant workers are still trying to recover from the situations they face during lockdown. All these suffering which can't even described in words they faced during covid-19 crises

Problems faced by migrants during lockdown-

1. No work and income- during lockdown the factories and industries shut down by the government which created havoc in migrants' lives, As they faced hardships in earning and feeding their families.

2. No means of transport- There are no means of transportation for travelling to their native places, thousands of migrants started their journey walking back home with families

3. starvation- with limited means of food and water, several migrants and their families died from starvation

4. No medical facilities- several migrants died as they didn't receive Medical facilities in time due to covid pandemic and negligence of government.

5. police brutality- police departments are also created problems in these migrants lives During pandemic as they punishes the migrants for not following rules and also beats them for walking into the roads during lockdown.

6. Negligence of government-when the PM announces the lockdown, they neglects the migrants Workers and later when the Situation worsens, government tries to provide them facilities but at that time, Hundreds of workers lost their lives due to accident, starvation, health problems and exhaustion.

Problem in government schemes-

Later the central and state government took measures to help and arranged transport facilities but these schemes also faced the issue of mismanagement. The contact details provided by the government for solving grievances of migrants are either not in service or the operator didn't listen to them. The food that the government promises to provide to migrants is not easily available to them due to corruption. they don't even get money for feeding their families by owners of industries or factories.

More than 300 migrant workers died during the lockdown period due to accidents, suicides, starvation, exhaustion and negligence of government.

Government tries to bring Indians from a broad but they should also focuses on the migrants or poor classes as the survival is extremely difficult for them in this covid- 19 pandemic.
